About Our Football Family
The Point Pleasant Challenger Flag Football program is a 501 (c) (3) non profit organization.
Our organization believes that the football field is a place where more than just a game is played. It is a place where we can teach understanding and inclusion. A place where we bridge the difference and promote confidence in children with special needs. Our volunteers develop an understanding of the challenges that their differently abled counterparts face each day. Our challenger athletes have the opportunity to play a team sport, experience a sense of camaraderie and feel “ The thrill of victory” and “ The agony of defeat”.
These special athletes gain physically in terms of coordination and endurance, but also more importantly learning to work as a member of a team. They develop the ability to wait, focus, follow directions, all while feeling as sense of accomplishment. Our hope is that the comradery and understanding developed on the field will continue in the community at large.
This program has been designed to allow children with all types of special needs the opportunity to participate in a team sport that promotes inclusion and provides the necessary support to help those with special needs succeed. With the assistance of the Point Pleasant Boro High School Football Team in conjunction with many amazing volunteers and from towns over Monmouth and Ocean county we have created a family of acceptance and achievement.
